Sharon Robotics Team Earns First Place Award at Competition (businessjournaldaily.com) — Sharon’s Tiger Techs robotics team has brought home a First Place Core Values Award from an international First Lego League competition in Long Beach, California, after advancing through strong showings at state and regional events. The student team, made up of local fourth- through ninth-graders, also earned praise for an archaeology-themed innovation project and saw coach Dave Tomko named Coach of the Year.

2. 13 WPIAL teams advance to PIAA softball quarterfinals (triblive.com) — Sharon High’s softball team is undefeated at 22-0 and heading into the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals after a 4-0 shutout of Mt. Pleasant, with their next game set for DuBois. The roundup also lists times and sites for other Western Pennsylvania teams still alive in the state tournament.

3. This Mason engineer won an international writing contest (dispatch.com) — A Cincinnati-based writer who grew up in Sharon just won the grand prize in L. Ron Hubbard’s international Writers of the Future contest for his short story “In Living Color.” In his Hollywood acceptance speech, he fondly recalled leaving his one-horse hometown of Sharon for the University of Cincinnati, highlighting how that move shaped his writing journey and career.

David Michael Jacobson, Sharon, PA (wkbn.com) — Sharon is mourning the passing of 56-year-old David Michael Jacobson, a lifelong resident, Sharon High School graduate, and dedicated basketball coach for local middle and high school teams. Remembered as an avid sports fan and community member, he leaves behind family in Sharon and beyond, with a memorial service to be announced later.
