1. Schuylkill County Athletes to Be Honored at Jerry Wolman Hall of Fame Banquet (skooknews.com) — Several athletes with deep Shenandoah ties, including J.W. Cooper, Shenandoah Catholic, and Cardinal Brennan standouts, are being inducted at the Jerry Wolman Hall of Fame banquet this Saturday. Local favorite Bob Racis, a former Blue Devils star and longtime Shenandoah resident, is among the honorees. Their stories span football, basketball, tennis, and more across Schuylkill County.
   

2. Police Log: 2 seriously injured in crash (republicanherald.com) — An 82-year-old Shenandoah woman was seriously injured when her car allegedly turned against a red light and collided head-on with another vehicle on Route 61 in Norwegian Township. State police also report separate incidents involving a PFA arrest in Girardville, a one-car crash in Pine Grove Township, and vehicle vandalism in Rush Township.
   

3. Lithuanian diaspora bishop visits heritage museum in Shenandoah (republicanherald.com) — Shenandoah’s Lithuanian Heritage Museum recently welcomed Archbishop Lionginas Virbalas, who ministers to Lithuanians worldwide, for a two-hour tour highlighting the borough’s “Little Lithuania” roots. Local cultural leaders showcased artifacts, art, and archives documenting more than a century of Lithuanian immigrant life in Shenandoah and the surrounding coal region.
   

4. North Schuylkill to Host 3rd Annual Jazz Festival Featuring Area High Schools and Professional Musicians (skooknews.com) — Shenandoah Valley’s jazz ensemble will join six other area high schools at North Schuylkill’s 3rd Annual Jazz Festival on Friday, May 8, 2026. Local students will perform for professional adjudicators and share the stage with Pottsville’s award‑winning M&J Big Band. Tickets are available at the door, with discounted prices for students and seniors.
