• Local fire companies receive $285k in federal funding for gear (shensentinel.com) — Fire companies serving Shenandoah and neighboring towns just secured a $285,714 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant to buy new structural turnout gear. Rescue Hook and Ladder of Shenandoah, Shenandoah Heights Fire Co., and partners in Mahanoy City and Girardville say the regional award will significantly improve firefighter safety and their ability to protect local residents.

FOOTBALL: Shenandoah survives Minersville in homecoming thriller (republicanherald.com) — Shenandoah Valley fans saw a nail-biting 33–28 homecoming win over Minersville, capped by a defensive stand in the final seconds. Running back Joel Nunez scored four total touchdowns behind a strong offensive line, and players say their composure in the wet, high-pressure game could carry into next week’s matchup against Schuylkill Haven.
