• Pennsylvania woman hands over $1.5 million in gold to scammers (wgal.com) — State police say a sophisticated gold-bar scam has already hit victims in several Pennsylvania towns, including Smethport, with losses totaling about $6.5 million. Investigators warn that scammers pose as federal agents, claim your accounts are compromised, then direct you to buy gold and hand it to a courier, and they urge any Smethport resident who did this to contact Trooper Eric Dreisbach.
