Somerset County Zoo Day set for July 14, 2026 (dailyamerican.com) — Somerset County families can score $5 admission to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium on Somerset County Zoo Day, Tuesday, July 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Just show a state-issued photo ID with a Somerset County ZIP code at the gate—no online tickets or advance signup needed, and up to four guests are allowed per qualifying ID.

Active shooter training held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort (wjactv.com) — Emergency officials from about 40 agencies gathered in Somerset County Thursday for a FEMA-sponsored active shooter training at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, aimed at improving coordination during violent incidents. Somerset County EMA Director Joel Landis said the goal is to build relationships and “muscle memory” so responders already know each other and local resources before a real emergency happens.

Cambria Co. commissioners approve multi-county partnership for comprehensive plan (wjactv.com) — Cambria County has joined four neighboring counties to create a shared framework for their next comprehensive plans, but Somerset County is sitting this regional effort out to develop its own plan. That means Somerset leaders will chart local growth and development independently, while nearby counties share costs and planning support through the Southern Alleghenies commission.
