Allen Teacher Charged With Allegedly Having Sex with Student

The student was a week shy of his 18th birthday, authorities say.

A 38-year-old Allen High School teacher has been charged with corruption of minors for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Gabrielle Suzanne Marvelli, of Quakertown, 38, was arraigned Friday by Senior District Judge John Dugan and released on $10,000 bail, according to a release from the District Attorney's office. As conditions of bail, Marvelli is prohibited from having contact with the student and his family.

According to the criminal complaint, Marvelli had sex with the student on May 28, 2011, at an Allentown motel, the release said.  The student, whose name was not disclosed, was 17 at the time but one week shy of his 18th birthday.

Though the student was almost 18, Martin said in the release that he decided to prosecute "because teachers must be held to a high standard and, stating the obvious, should not enlist their students to engage in sexual relations.”
