Car, Bus Driver Identified in Parkland School Bus Crash

Scott Michael Haas, of 3828 Maple Tree Lane, Slatington, was the driver of a white Audi A4 that was northbound on Cedar Crest Boulevard, police said. 

William D. Bartholomew, of 9753 Bartholomew Court, Breinigsville, was the driver of the Parkland school bus that was carrying four students to Lehigh Valley Christian Academy in Salisbury Township, police said.

The drivers and the students were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. No one was seriously injured, officials said.

Police said Haas was traveling north on Cedar Crest Boulevard and, for a yet-to-be-determined reason, crossed into the southbound lane. The car struck the school bus, which was traveling south on Cedar Crest Boulevard. The bus landed on its side.

officials said the students were examined by medical practioners and released to their parents, while the bus driver was undergoing tests. Information on the driver of the car was not immediately available.

The portion of South Cedar Crest Boulevard where the accident occurred was re-opened about 9:45 a.m., after being closed for one and a half hours.
