Did You Request a Reassessment Review? Be Prepared
Property owners have until Friday, March 16, to ask Lehigh County officials for an informal review with an assessor.

Lehigh County has posted its preliminary property reassessments on its website, with a tool for searching properties.
If you're among the who have asked for a review of your reassessment, the property value information you can find there can possibly help you be better prepared -- especially if you're hoping to ultimately lessen your tax burden.
For example, you can use the site to research the new values of other homes in your neighborhood to determine how your property compares. Depending on what you learn, the information could support an argument for a different value for your property.

According to information provided by Lehigh County, here's what influences an assessment value:
- Market sales (what other similar nearby homes have sold for.)
- Lot location
- Lot size
- Type of property (single, multi- family, duplex)
- Mobile or permanent home
- Total square feet of living area
- Style of home (ranch, bi-level, two-story)
- Exterior construction
- Zoning of lot
- Construction date
- Garage type (number)
- Basement
- Central air conditioning
- In ground pools
- Number of fireplaces
- Number of full baths
- Number of half baths
New windows, roof and plumbing, as well as a bathroom remodel, does not affect an assessment value but could affect a home's market value, the county has said.
