Glenn Block Enters Township Commissioner Race
Block will run in the May 17th Republican primary.

Glenn Block, a certified public accountant and vice chair of the township zoning board, has announced that he is running for South Whitehall commissioner.
Block, 54, a senior partner at Block & Aldinger CPAs in South Whitehall, has more than 29 years experience as a certified public accountant, with a specialty in forensic accounting. He has been a member of the township zoning board for about six years.
Block will run in the Republican primary on May 17th for one of three available seats.

He also plans to seek the Democratic nomination as a write-in candidate.
In a prepared release, Block said his main reason for running "is to ensure that our Township has proper representation in matters that directly affect each of us financially." He pointed to the need for financial accountability in township spending and budgeting, and he said his extensive financial background would well serve township residents.

"My main focus...is to necessitate financial accountability by cutting township spending and balancing the budget without raising taxes, " he said in a prepared release.
Block has been asked to speak at the June 2011 national conference of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
He also owns Keystone Security and Electronics Co. Inc. in South Whitehall, which installs residential and commercial burglar and fire alarm systems. He said he has worked with many law enforcement agencies and fire officials on issues of security and fire protection.
Block received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from American University in Washington, D.C.
He and his wife, Melisa, have two children.
Block recently changed his party registration to Republican.
"I believe that given the current state of the country, and specifically the township budget, that my views better align with Republican fiscal responsibility," Block said in an e-mail. "It is imperative now more than ever, that we maintain a balanced, responsible budget instead of increasing taxes on our already overburdened taxpayers."
