Haines Mill Road Bridge Re-opens
The project was completed a month ahead of time.
Haines Mill Road Bridge, which crosses Cedar Creek at the grist mill museum in South Whitehall, has reopened -- a month ahead of schedule, PennDOT announced Friday.
The box-beam bridge , when the extensive work got under way.
Crews replaced beams and deck, added new guide rail and curbing, and paved the bridge approaches.

Cost of the project was $629,773.
The early re-opening should be good news for motorists, who faced detours the past three-and-a-half months around Haines Mill Road. The project, led by Eastern Highway Specialists Inc., of Wilmington, Del., was not targeted to be done until August.

Haines Mill Road Bridge, which was constructed in 1959, is 57 feet long and 40 feet wide. About 3,369 vehicles use it daily. Prior to the project, it had been considered .
