Keeping it Green at Wedgewood Park

Nearby residents had wanted a simple landscaping plan at Wedgewood Park in South Whitehall.

 

Patch stopped by Wedgewood Park in the Cetronia section of South Whitehall this week to take a look at the new trees that have been planted there.

Neighbors had asked ’s Parks and Recreation Board, in planning improvements, to keep things simple.

Public Works Manager Bob Ibach said 22 hardwood and pine trees were planted last fall. The township plans to plant another 8 to 10 trees this fall.

Also, the township will pave walkways into the park from the sidewalks and install entrance markers and a park identification sign, Ibach said. He expects that work to be done in mid- to late August.

The park is bordered by 40th and 41st streets, Evergreen Road and Chew Street in South Whitehall.

The parks and recreation board has said that the total expenditure would be about $13,600, taken from an “open space” fund that developers pay into when submitting development plans to the township.
