Matt Miles Joins 183rd State House Race as Write-in

Matt Miles is seeking the Democratic nod in the 183rd state House race as a write-in candidate. There are no other Democratic candidates on the ballot for the seat.

Matt Miles, 31, of Danielsville is seeking the Democratic nod for the 183rd state House seat as a write-in candidate.

There are no Democrats on the ballot for the seat in Tuesday's primary.

If he's successful, he would likely face Republican Julie Harhart, who is seeking re-election, in the November general election. Harhart is unopposed in the Republican primary.

On his website, www.votemattmiles.net, Miles provides this background:

He also presents his position on issues, including education funding, job creation and the state lottery system.

Among his positions:

* Restore education funding

* Provide targeted tax breaks to those who hire veterans, recent graduates and long-term unemployed.

* Keep the lottery under state control.

"I feel it's time that someone who isn't a career politician is sent to Harrisburg to be sure your voice is heard," he says on his website. 

Miles said he is looking to gather 300 write-in votes to run against Harhart in the November general election.

The 183rd District includes parts of South Whitehall, as well other municipalities in Lehigh and Northampton counties.
