
Dr. Morton Parmet, 95, passed away on Aug. 20, 2012 at Luther Crest, South Whitehall. He was born in Pottsville, PA and graduated from Pottsville High School. In 1937, he received a B.A. degree cum laude from the College of the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained a D.D.S. degree from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He took a general practice residency at Easton Hospital.
He was a life member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, The Lehigh Valley Dental Society and the Purinton Academy of Dental Practice Administration. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Dental Society and a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. He was a member of the Dr. I. Franklin Miller Study Group at N.Y.U. He also was the attending dentist at the Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Allentown as well as a dental examiner for the Parkland School District.

Dr. Parmet had been President of the Allentown Dental Society before it expanded into The Lehigh Valley Dental Society. He had been President of the Rotary Club of Western Lehigh County.
A Coast Guard Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Alaskan Theatre of War. He was District Dental Officer at the Naval Base in Ketchican, Alaska. He received an honorable discharge in 1946 with rank of Navy Lieutenant.

Dr. Parmet maintained a general practice of Dentistry in Allentown from 1957 to 1999.
SURVIVORS: Immediate survivors are his wife, Dorothy; his brother, Dr. Sidney Parmet; nephews, Dr. Jonathan Parmet, Wynnewood, PA, and Dr. Howard Parmet, Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
SERVICES: Wednesday, August 22nd, 1:30 p.m. at Congregation Keneseth Israel, 2227 W. Chew St., Allentown, PA 18104. Interment will follow in Keneseth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home.
