Plan Would Change South Whitehall's State Representation
Residents have until Wednesday to comment about the state's plan to redraw legislative districts.

A proposed statewide redistricting plan would change South Whitehall's representation in the state House but would leave the state Senate seat as is.
At present, the township is divided between the 134th state House seat (representing township Districts 3,4 and 5), held by Republican Doug Reichley, and the 183rd (township Districts 1,2,6,7 and 8), represented by Republican Julie Harhart.
Under the proposed redistricting, a third House seat would partly represent the township -- the Allentown-based 132nd (it would represent Districts 2,5 and 7), now held by Democrat Jennifer Mann. Mann announced today (Nov. 28) that she would not seek re-election in 2012 to an eighth term.

The 134th would represent Districts 3 and 4, and the 183rd would represent Districts 1,6 and 8.
In the state Senate, the township still would be part of the 16th district, represented by Republican Pat Browne.
