South Whitehall Crews Help Douse Truck Fire on I-78

Fire crews from South Whitehall helped douse a tractor trailer fire Thursday morning on Interstate 78 westbound, just east of Route 100, in Upper Macungie.

Radio reports of Lehigh County 911 reported the rear trailer of a tandem tractor trailer was on fire. Upper Macungie fire units were called to the scene.

Emergency crews were able to separate the trailers and contain the fire to the rear trailer. No hazardous materials were involved in the fire.

South Whitehall crews and additional fire crews from Lower Macungie were called to supply additional water and manpower.
