South Whitehall Honors Slain Officer

The South Whitehall Police Department is paying tribute to fallen Freemansburg police officer Robert A. Lasso on its Facebook page.

The posting reads in part:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great sadness. Please take comfort in knowing that your extended law enforcement family grieves with you. Officer Lasso, we thank you for your service. You will not be forgotten."

Cetronia Ambulance Corps on its Facebook page also pays tribute to Lasso and asks the public to remember the men and women such as Lasso who dedicate themselves to public safety 

A for Lasso, who was  on Aug. 11, is being held this morning at Northampton Community College. 

Lasso's death left Freemansburg reeling. in the killing was George Hitcho, 46, who was committed to Northampton County Prison without bail.
