Township Allows Lime Kiln Road Property To Be Rezoned

Zoning for 4542 Lime Kiln Road will be neighborhood commercial, instead of residential.

South Whitehall commissioners passed an ordinance on Wednesday night that rezones a property at 4542 Lime Kiln Road to neighborhood commercial, from residential.

The property borders the Burger King lot at Lime Kiln Road and Route 309.

John Barto of JDL Enterprises, which owns both properties, had petitioned the township for the zoning change.

Barto said his daughters had lived in the home at 4542 Lime Kiln Road, but now it is vacant. He said he probably will use the structure as an office.

Barto said he has been limited in what he can do with the property because of a septic bed there, its only one acre in size, and any land sale would be tied into the Burger King property.

Board President and fellow commissioners , Tori Morgan and Tom Johns approved the change. Commissioner was not present.
