Township Recreation Programs Begin This Week

Yoga and ballroom dance are among the offerings through South Whitehall Parks & Recreation.

Have you gotten off to a slow start with your New Year's resolutions?

Now might be the time to kick start them, given that the South Whitehall Parks & Recreation department begins its programming this week.

Among the offerings:

* Winter Yoga

Where:  Recreation Building (Wehr Dam Hall)

When: Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Jan. 10, 17 and 31; and Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Cost: Seven classes for $35

* Beginning Ballroom Latin Dance Class (Learn the basic steps and easy combinations of swing, rumba, cha cha and mombo.)

Where: Covered Bridge Recreation Building (Wehr Dam Hall) 

When: Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, 19 and 26; and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 and March 1.

Cost: $60.00 per Couple for eight classes. A partner is required. 

Registration closes Jan. 11.


* Latin Ballroom Line Dance Class

(Learn the basic steps of samba, cha cha, mambo, merengue, rumba and East Coast swing, as well as other line/circle dances, choreographed into patterns that require no partner.)

Where: Covered Bridge Recreation Building (Wehr Dam Hall)

When: Thursdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on on Jan. 12, 19 and 26; and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 and March 1.

Cost: $35 per person for eight classes. No partner is needed.
Registration closes Jan. 11. 

South Whitehall runs recreation programs year round. 

Registration is required in advance for the adult programs. Those interested in the programs can register between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, at the  4444 Walbert Ave.

The programs are open to all township residents.
