Two Commissioners Leave Township Board

South Whitehall Commissioners Brad Osborne and Howard Ellsworth did not seek re-election.

Two South Whitehall commissioners who are leaving their seats on the township board bid adieu to the public Wednesday night, as fellow commissioners celebrated their years of public service.

Commissioners Brad Osborne and did not seek re-election this year to the township board. 

Osborne instead ran for a seat on the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners. He in November, and he will be sworn into that position on Jan. 3. Ellsworth said earlier this year he would be shifting his focus to family and travel.

Commissioner Tori Morgan read proclamations on both men's behalf, saying it had been "truely an honor" to have served with them. 

"It's been a blessing in my life to have been a commissioner in South Whitehall," said Osborne, the board president.

Ellsworth, the board's vice president, said he would miss serving on the board.

At their last board meeting, Osborne and Ellsworth joined their fellow commissioners in passing that again does not include a tax increase. 

Ellsworth had served four years as a commissioner, and previously, seven years as a member of the township planning commission.

Osborne served seven years as a commissioner, and prior to that, he served on the Board of Authority.
