8th Grader Named Student of the Month
Richardson Middle School eighth grader Reshma Suresh is the Springfield School District Student of the Month.

The following is a press release from the Springfield School District.
The Springfield School District October Student of the Month is Reshma Suresh, an eighth grade student at E.T. Richardson Middle School. Reshma is a smart, hard-working and friendly student with great aspirations for her future. Reshma lives with her parents, her younger sister, a sixth grader at ETR and her grandmother. The family has two cats named Princess and Oreo and a dog named Mylie. Reshma has attended Springfield’s schools for six years after moving here from Upper Darby.
Reshma really enjoys going to ETR each school day. She likes her math class because she finds the subject to be both challenging and rewarding. She loves her science class with all the fun experiments and because of her future career choice. She hopes to go to the University of Pennsylvania, where her mom works, to become a physician. When Reshma is not studying to become a doctor, she plays basketball, volleyball and runs track and field. Her favorite events are the hurdles and shot put. She also finds time to play the string bass in the ETR orchestra. Every summer, her family enjoys spending several weeks in India visiting her relatives and experiencing her family's native culture. These trips have allowed Reshma to become fluent in her native language.
Reshma's commitment to learning and her future career have left an immediate impression on the staff at ETR. Rich Duffey, her accelerated algebra teacher said, “In the short time that I’ve had Reshma in class, I know her to be a very intelligent and very well-spoken student. She has a cheerful personality and is very motivated to perform at a high academic level.” Physical education teacher Mike Heath added, “Reshma is a great student. She has a very positive attitude, is very polite and very friendly. She is always prepared, participates to the best of her ability and demonstrates sportsmanship towards her fellow classmates. She has been a pleasure to have in class.” Rich Turturici, social studies teacher concluded by saying “Reshma is very deserving of this recognition. She’s a top notch young lady. She’s always willing to learn something new or try something unfamiliar to her. Reshma goes out of her way to help others. She’s a fascinating eighth grader who is eager to share her Indian roots in class.” For all these reasons and more, it is a pleasure to recognize Reshma Suresh as the Springfield School District October Student of the Month.
