A lot of my group class students expressed an interest in taking a music theory class, so starting June 15th, I will be offering just that! This class is for anyone who wants to learn more about topics such as how chords get their names, what exactly are keys, and why should I learn scales? Although this class is geared toward guitar players, any instrumentalist is welcome to join. We’ll cover the basics such as the names of the notes, the major scale formula, and how the basic chords are constructed from the notes in the key. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the material. This class will run for 6 sessions on Mondays at 7:30pm – 8:30 from June 15th through July 27th. No class will be held on July 13th. The annual Purcellville Wine and Food Festival returns on Saturday, July 18, in Dillon’s Woods at the historic Fireman’s Field Complex (250 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville). The festival will take place from 2 to 8 p.m., inviting guests to gather with family and friends for an afternoon and evening of local wine, beer, food, live music, art, and more.
This year’s event will showcase 40 vendors, including wineries, breweries, food and snack vendors, and local exhibitors. Enjoy live music performances by the Rick Reaves Band, The Darby Brothers, and the Franklin Park Big Band. The “Arts in the Garden” section, hosted by the Purcellville Arts Council, will highlight local artists who will create works of art live on-site. Additional activities include face painting and a photo stand-in booth. 
Early bird ticket pricing is available through 5 p.m. on July 17: 
• Early bird admission (ages 17 and over): $5 (+ tax) 
• Early bird drink tickets (6 oz wine or 12 oz beer): $8.50 (+ tax) 
• Early bird drink ticket package: 4 tickets for $32 (+ tax) 
• Early bird bottle of wine purchase: $35 (+ tax), available from participating wineries (bottles must be consumed on-site)
A souvenir glass will be provided with the purchase of the first drink ticket. Save time and money by purchasing your tickets in advance. 
The popular VIP experience returns for $275 (+ tax) and includes admission for six, a reserved table for six, three bottles of local wine, six souvenir glasses, six drink tickets, early entry to the festival, special commemorative gifts, and a selection of sweets and savories for the table.

Summertime Brings New Opportunities for Participation in Litter Photo Contest
Media, PA—With summer’s relaxed schedules, PRC invites Pennsylvanians to grab a camera or mobile device and photograph the worst—or most unusual—examples of litter in their communities. The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) is accepting entries for its annual Gene Capaldi Lens on Litter Photo Contest through October 31, 2026.
Entries should raise awareness of how litter threatens public health and safety, scenic beauty, property values, the environment, and pets or wildlife and are judged on: anti-litter message, originality, photographic technique, quality of photo, originality of title and severity of the litter.
Categories and prizes: First-, second-, and third-place prizes will be awarded in four categories—Student (through 12th grade), Adult, Before &amp; After Student (through 12th grade), and Before &amp; After Adult. Prizes are $500 (first), $250 (second), and $100 (third).
To qualify for the Before &amp; After categories, sponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, cleanup efforts must be registered with Keep PA Beautiful’s Pick-Up PA Program: <a href="https://www.keeppabeautiful.org/programs/pick-up-pa/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.keeppabeautiful.org/programs/pick-up-pa/</a>.
Entry requirements: Each person may submit up to five photos (no smaller than 4×6 and no larger than 8×10). Each entry must include: entrant’s name, address, telephone number, email address, title given to photo, location of litter site and how you learned about the contest. Students only: age, grade, and school name. Entries submitted without all required information will be disqualified.

Since 1984, PRC has sponsored an annual Gene Capaldi Lens on Litter Photo contest, not to glorify litter but to bring attention to the litter problem in communities across Pennsylvania. Exposure leads to prevention!
Participants from across the state have submitted thousands of photos over the years. Contestants are eligible for monetary prizes up to $500. All submitted photos may be used by PRC and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful at their discretion.
Contest dates run from January 1 to October 31 each year.
NOTE: A new BEFORE &amp; AFTER category — sponsored by <a href="https://www.keeppabeautiful.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful</a> — has been added to the contest.
