Assault, Theft, Public Drunkenness, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

Springfield Police said a 22-year-old man was taken into custody on an assault charge after an incident at the Springfield Shopping Center.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Nov. 15 and Nov. 20.

Nov. 15 at 17:53 p.m.
Officers were called to the 200 block of Lewis Road to investigate a suspicious male. They made contact with a 33-year-old male from Springfield who appeared intoxicated. It was learned the male, while driving a vehicle, had struck a parked vehicle along the 300 block of Gleaves Road and walked away. The vehicle struck was located with minor damage, and the male was taken into custody. Charges will be filed.

Nov. 17 at 9:19 p.m.
Officers responded to Wawa, 100 block of Saxer Avenue, for a report of a male who damaged an order screen. Contact was made with a 34-year-old male who was found to be intoxicated. The male was taken into custody and later found to have an arrest warrant from Delaware County. He was transported to Delaware County Prison. Charges for Public Drunkenness and Criminal Mischief will be filed.

Nov. 18 at 9:20 a.m.
A 20-year-old male from Chester will be charged with Retail Theft after he reportedly stole electronics from CVS on Chester Road. CVS employees reported he also stole merchandise on Nov. 17. The male was located in the shopping center and taken into custody. He was later released.

Nov. 19 at 2:15 a.m.
Three female juveniles and one male juvenile from Ridley, Brookhaven, and Broomall will be charged with curfew violations after being stopped loitering on the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike. All were turned over to their parents.

Nov. 19 at 2:13 p.m.
Two juvenile males, one from Upland and one from North Carolina, were stopped by Macy’s security for stealing jackets from display. The males were taken into custody and turned over to family. Charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Nov. 19 at 8:41 p.m.
A 25-year-old female from Upper Darby will be charged with Disorderly Conduct after she walked into the Chipotle restaurant, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, and caused a disturbance. She was located by police waiting for a bus on Baltimore Pike.

Nov. 20 at 12:37 a.m.
Two males, a 36-year-old from Aldan and a 26-year-old from Aston, will be charged with Public Drunkenness after two incidents at Springfield Country Club, 400 block of West Sproul Road. While officers were handling the Aldan male who refused to leave the bar after being flagged, the Aston male became disruptive to the investigation. The Aldan male was released at the scene, and the Aston male was taken into custody and brought to headquarters before later being released to his parents. Charges will be filed.

Nov. 20 at 3:27 p.m.
Officers were called to the Springfield Shopping Center, 700 block of West Sproul Road, to investigate an assault with a knife. They found a female in the lot who said her ex-boyfriend had just threatened her with a knife and tried to pull her out of her car by grabbing her hair. The male fled on foot through the shopping center. Officers located the male in the center parking lot and took him into custody. Justin Valenti, 22, of Havertown, was charged with Assault and held for arraignment.
