Attempted Homicide Charge Filed After Springfield Cops Shot At

A Springfield man is facing serious charges after police said she shot two rounds at police officers last week.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — A 34-year-old Springfield man is facing attempted homicide and related charges after authorities said he shot at police officers last week.

Springfield Police said Robert Feilke, 34, of Springfield, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon, and possession of an instrument of crime.

Feilke was arrested Friday, Dec. 20 on the 300 block of East Springfield Roads.

At about that time, police were called to Feilke's home for a mental health warrant, police said.

When officers arrived Feilke was outside his house and officers tried to take him into custody.

Police said he then resisted and pulled out a gun, firing at one of the officers.

Another officer then fired at Feilke, striking him and causing a non-life threatening injury, police said. No officers were hurt in the incident.

Feilke was taken to a hospital and arraigned there, police said.

He was held after failing to post 10 percent of $5 million bail, court records show.

His preliminary hearing will be held Jan. 2, according to court documents.
