Blotter: Referee Assaulted at Hockey Game

Assault—Hockey Deck in the 1400 block of Wallingford Road at about 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 9. Springfield Police received a report that a referee of an indoor hockey game had been assaulted during a game. The victim had been shoved and punched by a person, while breaking up a scuffle at the end of a game. The victim responded to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.
