It's been awhile since I read a romance novel, but I remember that the ache in the loins is nothing compared to the one in the heart. I is for Intimacy that goes to the heart of romance. Whether as a hint of original completeness with another or as a glint in the eye of the beloved, love has its way with every person sooner or later. A lid for every pot does not have to be demanded like a chicken does in there.
Beauty does not need to be in the eye of the beer-holder alone.
If you haven't demanded (from "On Demand") the classic presentation of The Enchanted Cottage , please do yourself the favor of seeing that movie. Intimacy, like one of its definitions, implies an association 'in time' or better, just in time. It doesn't involve a victory of biology/chemistry, but a surrender to the inevitable/ineluctable.

Yet, as marvelous as a timely human connection can be, that's as significant a lack of intimacy is from a significant other. It should not take being asked, "How's that working for ya?" for people to realize that their lid is still in the cabinet. Likewise, if he/she makes you flip your lid too often, then maybe you really do deserve better.
The president of what was the United States has (on every TV channel) just bemoaned the lack of political intimacy that not only threatens this country's unity but also its credit rating as well. He is calling (from a public forum) for a timely surrender of partisan polarity to address what is not working for U.S. Indeed, we deserve better, but will objectives (sensible debt reductions) trump goals (re-election/good standing within the party) - let's hope someone picks up a romance novel and remembers which ache is legendary.
