Does it seem to you, as it does to me, that things are topsy-turvy?
Why is deception, corruption and image-management the way to staying on top? Is a thin body more healthy than a fuller figure; a big bankroll more secure than a tight (read: balanced) budget; or excitement more satisfying than contentment?
Appearances to the contrary, I am assured that all things will come to light in the proper time. I am also assured that it is time for a new profile photo of myself for this blog. But let me be honest, the more dignified presence in the new photo is the tree in the background. I have removed my glasses because what is important to my blog is the I behind the eyes. And though I can not change my outer appearance as I would like ( I refuse to go under the knife or the needle,) I'm happy with the inside job.

Besides, I know that God has the cards in capable hands that will reverse much of what seems to be in this world. The first shall be last, the rich will be miserable and the armed conflicts will be hollow victories. But the icing on the resurrection-cake: we will be turned inside out so that our bodily quality will be as hidden as our souls are now.
What a waste is all the time, money and trouble attending to our exterior appearance when what will be manifest for all eternity will be the inside of us, namely our character. No wonder Jesus' disciples didn't recognize him on the road to Emmaus but did recognize his caring gesture of table fellowship.
