I'm a firm believer that when God created us, she reserved a place within our being that could only be filled by Her. St. Augustine put it this way: "Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee." Or, as I've seen it somewhere: "You are a child of God, please call home!" Our lives are an endless search and complex journey to the simple realization that there is a 'Room at the Inn.'

But, if this is too esoteric, consider a campfire. Judy Brown in her poem Fire writes, "What makes a fire burn is the space between the logs, a breathing space. Too much of a good thing, too many logs packed in too tight can douse the flames almost as surely as a pail of water would." So, when was the last time you made room for God to breathe within you the spark of enthusiasm (a Greek word meaning "in God")? Or have you been packing - as in too much of a good thing in too tight - for a trip in "the Fall ( from grace)"?
Maybe the best way to unload the junk from your trunk is to start carrying with you a dessert fork, even be buried with it. If nothing else, it should remind you/others to save room for what is still to come. It might also help when you're tempted to bite off more than you can chew.
