The Genesis of An Industry

Eve was framed while the Apple was famed.

This week marks the 20th anniversary of the "Year of the Woman". Not your garden variety of woman, but a celebration of the woman in business and/or in politics. Women in suits, in front of a microphone and using state-of-the-art technologies, even women in military uniform and wearing badges - you've come a long way, baby, and in heels to boot.

Sure, your younger cohorts are still wearing pajamas to school, but the fig leaf phase has been reserved for the photo-shoot and gender politics. Which brings us to another landmark for sleek, slender, compliant and still affordable instruments of satisfaction. I'm speaking, of course, of that age-old enhancement to a woman's appeal known as the apple, or iPhone/iPad if you will.

It's still, year in and year out, doing its job of luring human beings beyond the utilitarian value of women. How else should we record and store all those weird and wacky personal anecdotes that history would consign to the waste bin? How else get 24-hour solicitous help navigating the web of life? In particular, the web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

Ah, the woman and Apple - inexorably linked to the preoccupation of mankind with itself. Use them and abuse them for all your selfish needs. Pull up a chair to table or tablet for a full serving of your favorite fare. Check constantly to see if "the moment is right": Paradise Lost can always be found if you have what it takes to keep to the program or can afford to invest in a newer model now and again.

There's nothing we won't give for greater capacity, better functioning and customized performance when it comes to social networking. Playing the field and searching the possibilities for excitement is just harmless fun or smart management. The object of temptation has always been temptation seen as an object with no feelings to consider. Possession is 9/10ths of the law of the jungle where you can be alone with your faults.

The year of the woman? That was so yesterday, and so soon to have a big bite taken out of it by the ravenous appetite for programmable core values.
