I thank God that I saw the movie "Wag the Dog" before 9/11 so I was able to keep a calm head/kind heart throughout the subsequent frenzy of paranoia. I'm also grateful that I learned how to play basketball, viz., that it never helps to run and gun. A thoughtful, strategic game plan is worth the price of admission.
Ever since the biblical days of Aaron (Ex.32:25), there have been leaders who believe that they have to give to the people what they want. The fact that there are many people with many wants means that such leaders come up with many and varied ways to please, rather tease, people.
'Situation/problem over here, folks' is reason to be afraid until the next situation/problem. Likewise, the need for people to actually do something about their fear is met with a duct tape promotion (remember?)

I feel sorry for adults who never established an adult relationship with their parents that included healthy disallusionment. They either get everything they want or no peace dealing with their parents' high alerts. Which brings me to "weather authorities" suggesting on 100+ degree days that people go to the shore, where they're sure to experience first-degree burns, let alone future skin cancer.
Where are the leaders pointing people to the shade - where dogs in a calm, cool and collected state are wagging their tails, instead of the opposite?
