'Why You Should Never Date a Co-Worker' Springfield: A Long Way from 'Sex and the City'

I wasn't warm and fuzzy to the idea of my boss knowing the details of the situation.

Continued from 'A Date with A Co-worker'

There I was, not wasted but too buzzed to drive. I remember him saying to me on the drive home, "I can sleep on the couch and you can have my bed." I of course, being as dumb as I was said, "Oh no, you don't have to do that." After knowing this guy for over a year now, even if I had said, okay. That wouldn't have ever happened that way. EVER! Unless of course I was the one who volunteered to sleep on the couch. I don't need to get into the rest of the details as I'm sure you don't need to be a physicist to figure it out. The next morning I woke up, found my dignity and choked down some breakfast which was a glass of water, because that's ALL he had (stupid bachelor) and did my walk of shame.

I remember leaving his house that morning feeling so, indifferent. I wasn't happy, yet I wasn't sad. I remember feeling a sense of accomplishment. Like, I had gotten something over on, Ryan* yeah, Ryan*. I guess in my dumb vulnerable mind I had somehow thought that Tom* was going to be my stepping stone along the path to truly getting over Ryan*. Ya know, my next.

With the days that followed, Tom* and I still talked and flirted like usual. Surprisingly things really weren't that awkward at work. Tom* didn't work in my department so it's not like anyone knew anything other than the two of us. Except…Oh, yeah, did I forget to mention that Tom* was my boss's best friend?

In the beginning it didn't really matter to me, however I wasn't warm and fuzzy to the idea of my boss knowing the details of the situation. But Tom* assured me that he didn't share ANY details involving the two of us with Josh* my boss. And unfortunately, I believed him. Besides, even if Josh* knew anything I didn't really feel comfortable talking about anything involving Tom* or I. Even if it was just something he had said. I wanted to keep things separate. Which, a lot of people don't know how to do when it comes to a work environment. A lot of people broadcast their personal business, which ultimately ends with shattering consequences and I certainly didn't want to be bothered with that.

Therefore, Tom* and I continued…dating. If that's what you want to call it.
