With A Grain Of Salt

What a stroke of mindfulness.

Take this with a grain of salt, but we've been duped. Life is a joke and those singing its praises are jokers. Just when you think you've found true love, for instance, you realize you're in a mine field. Love isn't a battlefield - instead, you're defenseless because you thought love would save you.

Just when you hit paydirt, you've dug yourself a grave.

There is no truth in advertising because there is no truth. There's only money, power and popularity, or status. If you're short on those, you're just one of those silly dwarves. Your beauty isn't sleeping, it's lethargic.

Your house is never clean because it's always in the process of getting dirty. You're worse than nothing to anybody because you're dying by the day. Life is an absurd comedy starring you.

Evil exists as a parasite that lives off of goodness. You can't have evil without goodness, but evil corrupts goodness just the same. It twists and turns truth ever so slightly as to make it suspect. It thwarts and frustrates love till it loses faith in itself. It uses comparisons to suggest that uniqueness is dangerous and specialness is a handicap.

And because the temptation to be better and to have more than you need is permanent, the pursuit of what is fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying is obsessive. Speaking of obsessive, addiction is our best friend. It's always calling us, finding reasons and ways to get in, and awfully jealous of our time and attention.

Take this with a grain of salt, but we play a losing game with the house rules rigged against us. The ways of the world speak to the wayward delinquent within us all. There's hardly anything we wouldn't do if we thought we could get away with it. Even those who confess themselves to be the greatest sinners show their pride in having to be the greatest at something.

Moses died before entering the Promised Land; not because he wasn't worthy or as a punishment for his sins. He died in order to enter the true Promised Land that can not be bought, coerced or entitled. He could not find the someone he was while continuing to seek for something that wasn't him. The Law that he produced as his legacy led only to sin and death.

Holy Moses, why are we still lost in a desert of unfulfilled longing for what is a mirage? Believe it or not, the Kingdom of love and truth is within you and me.

So, take this with a grain of salt - it'll make the evils of this world flee the premises.
