I've recently learned of two important attacks on our way of life on this earth. Don't worry, neither will have us go to war, thank God. The first provocation came from the pen of Erle Ellis who declares that the Holocene Era is ended and the Anthropocene (a geological epoch shaped by humans) is at-large, so to speak. This, my Friends, is the time of man-ipulation of what were (previously) natural developments.
Yes, we are finally in charge of natural disasters that will prove uncontrollable. Too bad nature can't be prescribed an ADHD medication. Just try to insure this accident waiting to happen.
The second mortal blow is actually NOT. For the first time in almost 50 years, the crime of homicide is NOT on the list of the top 15 causes of human death in the U.S.A.. Apparently we are killing each other with more man-ageabe weapons. In fact, pollution, stress and deprivation contribute to the new demise of our population called "cancer". No amount of air filtering or freshening seems to correct the displacement of homicide with "pneumonitis" for those living long enough to regret it.

Hello - I'm hoping social networking can get the word out that we're killing each other. What part of men- opause, men- struation and even men- tal don't you understand? You kill me and I'm returning the favor. Welcome to the Anthropocene Era.
No wonder more and more wild animals are finding their way into our yards and our homes. No wonder our pets are befriending us to learn how to get along in civilization. No wonder birds and swine are getting the flu.

If you are still not convinced (a mortal sin for Quakers) that humans will kill each other off in this Anthropocene Age, just look to the cat: I swear that she looks at me with the expression, "Just die already".
