Can I Build A Tree House?
Springfield township has regulations for building tree houses, sheds, and garages.

Springfield township allows tree houses to be built, with no permit required, as long as the structure is not supported by the ground.
A tree house that requires ground support or posts must be assessed by the township before it can be built.

Springfield township also stipulates that you can not have two of any structure on the property including sheds, garages, gazebos, or tree houses.
Requirements for Building a Shed

- A shed can not exceed 168 square feet
- Shed walls can not exceed 12 by 14 feet long and 10 feet high.
- A shed must be at least 10 feet from the house
- A shed must be within three feet of the property line
- Sheds can not be in the front yard
- Sheds must be build on a concrete foundation
- Permit fee for a shed is $25
Requirements for Building a Garage
- A garage can not exceed 24 by 24 feet
- A garage can not exceed 12 feet in height
- The garage must be located within three feet of the property line
- The garage must be at least 10 feet from the house
- Two sets of drawings or plot plans are required to be provided to the township
- Grading permits are required
- A $30 permit is required for every $1000 of work
- For a garage attached to the house, the township must be consulted for setback lines
