Cougars Gear Up for Conestoga

Undefeated Cougars host Conestoga (3-1) this Friday.

Springfield passed one major test last Friday in blasting out a good Haverford High School team, 27-0.

The Cougars now have another big one this Friday, when they host 3-1 Conestoga, which has already beaten Ridley earlier this season and seems to be getting better with each week.

“I like the fact our kids prepare well every week,” Cougars’ coach Tom Kline said.

“They don’t take anyone lightly and we give everyone their due respect. [Conestoga coach] John Vogan does such a great job with his kids. I really like this matchup, they throw the ball very well. We’re going to need to manage the clock and keep the ball on the ground.”

What Kline would like to limit, however, are penalties that have sometimes stopped drives.

“Penalties bother me the most, because I’m the offensive line coach,” Kline said. “The upside is we’re committing a lot of penalties, holding, offsides, that are correctable. We’ll go back over it.”
