Delco Teen Baited Minors Into Sending Nude Photos, Videos: Authorities

The 18 year old now faces more than 100 counts of various charges, including child pornography, stalking, corruption of minors, and more.

A Delaware County 18-year-old man is facing more than 120 counts of variuos charges after allegedly tricking other teens into sending him sexually explicit photos then posting those photos online, according to Delaware County officials. Derrick Jones, of Glenolden, was released after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail Thursday, May 11, court records show.

The charges were announced Thursday and include 49 counts of felony child pornography; 49 counts of felony criminal use of a communication facility; 10 counts of charges related to allowing children to be involved in pornography; corruption of minors; stalking; and harassment.

According to Delaware County Detectives, Jones coerced young males, some who were minors, to send him sexually explicit photos by posing as a young woman, whose photos and videos he took from another website.

The investigation began in 2016 when several male victims told authorities that they were being extorted with sexually explicit photos they sent via various social media platforms to who they thought was a girl named "Haley."

"Haley" turned out to be Jones, according to a criminal complaint filed against Jones.

One victim told investigators that Jones set helped the victim and "Haley" exchange phone numbers and when the victim stopped sending "Haley" graphic images, "Haley" threatened to leak the images to the victim's friends and family, the complaint alleges.

Authorities later subpoenaed the social media account that was extorting the victim and found the IP address was listed at a Glenolden address, which happened to be Jones' residence, authorities said.

Police searched the residence in November 2016 and recovered multiple electronic devices which contained 137 digital folders that were arranged alphabetically and contained images and videos of males' genitals, the complaint reads.

Jones admitted to posing as Haley and obtaining the videos and photos for his own pleasure, the criminal complaint says.

Jones will appear in a Delaware County court on May 31 for his preliminary hearing, court records show.
