District Principals to Give PSSA Report
The principals of the Springfield School District will give their full report on the district's 2011-12 PSSA results at Thursday's school board meeting.

The Springfield School Board will hear reports from all of the district’s principals about the 2011-12 school year’s PSSA results at Thursday’s school board meeting.
Last month the Pa. Department of Education released its AYP (adequate yearly progress) report card for every district in the state.
Springfield received a warning from the state for failing to meet two AYP goals at the high school level.

It should be noted that the district as a whole made 64 out of its 66 AYP goals, and every school besides the high school made AYP.
AYP is a federally mandated metric under the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act that states 100 percent of students must rate at proficient or above in math and reading by 2014.

A proficient rating is equal to about a “C” grade.
Springfield High School failed to meet its goals in overall student performance in math as well as white, non-Hispanic students in math.
The Springfield Board of Directors will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Oct. 25, beginning at 7 p.m. at the district administration building located at 111 W. Leamy Ave. Springfield, PA.
