Drugs, Thefts, DUI, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

Police took people into custody on drug charges after they said they found heroin, cocaine, and marijuana in three separate incidents.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 26 and Oct. 1.

Sept. 26 at 10:50 a.m.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of the Days Inn, 600 block of Baltimore Pike, of which the registration was reported stolen out of Philadelphia. Contact was made with the driver, who was displaying the registration on a different vehicle than assigned. The driver, a 40-year-old male from Philadelphia, was found in possession of a firearm and a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant. Det. Cutcliff is investigating.

Sept. 30 at 8:45 a.m.
While on patrol, officers observed a male sitting at a bus stop on the 800 block of Baltimore Pike with a large amount of energy drinks. The male was stopped and found to have stolen the drinks from the Target Store. The male lied about his identity but was found to be a 26-year-old from Levittown. Target security confirmed the theft and reported the male had stolen previously from the store. The male was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft and other offenses. He was arraigned and later transported to Delaware County Prison.

Sept. 30 at 1:27 p.m.
Officers were called to the CVS store, 700 block of Baltimore Pike, for a report of a male who had stolen Legos and ran out of the store. The male was located on Baltimore Pike near Leamy Avenue and stopped. He was found to possess the stolen merchandise and a quantity of heroin. A 40-year- old man was taken into custody, charged with Retail Theft and drug offenses, and held for arraignment.

Sept. 30 at 7:08 p.m.
A 69-year-old female from Chester was taken into custody after Macy’s security at the mall reported she stole over $400 worth of bedding products and left the store. She was transported to headquarters and found to possess an amount of cocaine. She was later released, and charges for Retail Theft and drug offenses will be filed.

Oct. 1 at 1:12 a.m.
Officers responded to the 300 block of North State Road for a report of a crash. Upon arrival, it was found that a vehicle had driven over the grass median and damaged turf and trees before stopping in the northbound lanes. The driver, a 40-year-male from Claymont, Delaware, was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. He submitted to a blood test and was released. Charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending.
