DUI, Drugs, Underage Drinking, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

Police said they are monitoring the area Memorial Park Drive after a large group of kids were drinking and scattered when police arrived.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 5 and Sept. 11.

Sept. 5 at 8:33 a.m.
Officers were called to the 200 block of Ballymore Road to investigate a male who had been walking through rear yards of properties. The male was located on Leamy Avenue near Carr Circle. The male appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was also found to have an active arrest warrant from PA State Police. The 31-year-old from Clifton Heights was taken into custody and later turned over to PSP.

Sept. 5 at 1:42 p.m.
Officers on patrol observed a male appearing under the influence of a narcotic in the parking lot of the Parkway Inn. The male was identified as 43, of Springfield, and found to have an active arrest warrant from Delaware County. He was taken into custody and later turned over to a Constable for transport to Delaware County Prison. Charges for Public Drunkenness will be filed.

Sept. 8 at 5:13 p.m.
Target security, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, reported a male subject had fled the store after stealing computer keyboards and left in a vehicle. Officers in the area observed the vehicle on Baltimore Pike and stopped it. During the investigation, other stolen merchandise was found inside the vehicle along with a quantity of marijuana. Three males were taken into custody. Kavon Carr, 20, of Newark, Delaware and Stefan Hazel, 20, of Bear, Delaware, were charged with Retail Theft, and Formonn Green-Coates, 20, of New Castle, Delaware, was charged with Retail Theft and drug charges. All were held for arraignment.

Sept. 8 at 9:40 p.m.
A 36-year-old male from Ridley was taken into custody after he was involved in a retail theft at CVS 300 block of Baltimore Pike. CVS employees reported he stole over $300 worth of merchandise. The male was also found to have two active arrest warrants from Delaware County and was later turned over to Constables for transport to Delaware County Prison.

Sept. 9 at 8:53 p.m.
Officers received a report of a large group of juveniles entering the wooded area on Memorial Park Drive. Several small groups were stopped and were warned about being in the park after dark. Upon entering the woods, officers observed a large group of juveniles run away from an area littered with empty beer cans, trash, tables and chairs. This area will continue to be monitored by police and sadly is in need of a major cleanup because of trash left behind.

Sept. 10 at 7:21 p.m.
A male and female, both 18, of New Jersey, were stopped after purchasing alcoholic beverages leaving a business on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike. They were cited and released. A short time later, a 20-year-old male from Glen Mills used a fake identification to purchase four cases of alcoholic beverages. He was stopped in his vehicle after leaving and cited for UAD.

Sept. 10 at 9:19 p.m.
A 66-year-old male from Broomall was taken into custody for suspected DUI after he crashed his vehicle on the 200 block of South Norwinden Drive. The male submitted to a blood test and later turned over to a friend. Charges for DUI are pending.

Sept. 11 at 9:04 p.m.
CVS, 700 block of Baltimore Pike, reported a male subject stole over $50 worth of body wash and detergent and walked out of the store. Officers located the suspect on Woodland Avenue, and while trying to place him in custody, he ran. He was eventually taken into custody and found to have several active arrest warrants from Delaware County. The 39-year-old from Philadelphia was later turned over to Constables for transport to Delaware County Prison.

Sept. 11 at 9:34 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the unit block of Rodney Lane and found the driver of the striking vehicle changing his tire. The 28-year-old male from Clifton Heights was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. He submitted to a blood test, and charges for DUI are pending. The male was later released to a friend.
