Electronics Stolen, Car Keyed, More: Springfield Police Report

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police issued their weekly crime report on Monday, Feb. 12.
The report is short and covers just five incidents that occurred in the township between Feb. 5 and Feb. 10.
Incidents included nearly $2,000 stolen form a Verizon Wireless store, thefts, and vandalism.

Feb. 5, 9:49 a.m.
Target at 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. John Grossi, 36, of Wallingford, was observed concealing seven cans of Similac baby formula in his jacket and attempting leave the store without rendering payment. Total amount of the theft was $114. Grossi was arrested and charged with retail theft. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Feb. 5, 10:16 p.m.
Officers responded to a 911 call at the Mills of Victoria at 1489 Baltimore Pike. Officer Richard Christy checked the area and located a vehicle partially in the woods near the parking lot. He identified the driver as Jerome Simmons, 60, of Chester. Simmons showed signs of intoxication and was asked to perform several field tests which he failed to complete as instructed. He was placed under arrest for DUI and later released to a friend. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the case
Feb. 8, 7:32 p.m.
Verizon Wireless at 731 W. Sproul Road, reported a retail theft. A male customer entered the business and distracted employees while a second male removed an iPhone X and two Apple watches from a display. Both males fled the store on foot. Total amount of the theft was $1,860. Descriptions of the suspects were provided, but neither was located. Det. Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.
Feb. 9, 2:37 p.m.
A resident from the 700 block of West Springfield Road reported vandalism to his vehicle. The victim parked his car on Meetinghouse Lane near the intersection of West Springfield Road the previous night. He discovered someone had "keyed" his vehicle along the driver's side. There are no suspects at this time.
Feb. 10, 5:36 p.m.
Target at 1200 Baltimore Pike reported a retail theft. Angelene Brejcha, 27, of Springfield, was observed removing tags from a wallet and purse, and attempting leave the store without rendering payment for the items. Total amount of the theft was $121. Brejcha was arrested and charged with etail theft. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the case.
