will host the annual Fire Prevention Open House on Friday, Oct. 14 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the firehouse (Saxer Avenue and Powell Road).
The Open House is held in conjunction with the NFPA National Fire Prevention Week. This year's theme is, "Protect Your Family From Fire!"
The Springfield Ambulance Corps will once again be holding their annual open house along with the Fire Company.
Residents will be able to stop by the firehouse and see the men and women that protect their family, home and community throughout the year. Firefighting apparatus will be on display on Saxer Avenue in front of the firehouse. Springfield Fire Company apparatus along with surrounding fire companies throughout Delaware County will be displaying equipment. These mutual aid companies provide assistance to Springfield Fire Company thru preplanned responses depending on the nature of the emergency, location of the emergency and the size of the incident.
Springfield Firefighters will also conduct a live vehicle rescue demonstration to show residents some of the other life saving skills and equipment that members from Springfield Fire Company use on a regular basis.
Kids will be able to practice Stop, Drop and Roll and will be given the chance to win a remote control toy fire trucks for their participation. Student face painters from Springfield High School will be on hand to provide artistic fire themed paintings for all kids.
Springfield Fire Company members will be teaching home fire safety tips geared towards educating adults about how to stay safe around your home and what not to do. Fire prevention literature will also be available for residents to take home to make sure that they are practicing fire safety and prevention throughout the year.
Representatives from the Police Department will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions about the new Town Watch program being started in the Township.
Soft pretzels and juice will be available to all attendees. Hope to see many residents at our open house, the one night of the year that residents get to visit our house instead of Springfield Fire Company visiting yours.
Saxer Avenue from Bennett Road to Powell will be closed to traffic from 6pm to 9pm on the night of the Open House. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot behind the Wawa at Saxer Avenue and Powell Road.
