Anyone interested in a greener way to manage lawn care and storm water pollution are invited to a free workshop where experts will give ecological advice on alternatives.
Landscapers can earn four pesticide/herbicide applicator re-certification credits at the course offered by the (STEAC) on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at the .
Kerry Hoffman-Richards, Director Pesticde Education Program, Pennsylvania State University, will present the safe use of pesticides/herbicides and the latest fertilizer legislation.

Larry Weaner, Award Winning Ecological Landscape Designer, educator and author, will present “Lawn Alternatives for the Real World” that are easy to implement.
, LEED Green Associate and STEAC Vice Chairman, will give an update on the township Best Management Practices (BMP) Park. The BMP will reduce storm water runoff and pollution from Springfield that flows into Levis Run and Darby Creek.

STEAC liaison was instrumental in putting the program together.
“It’s a great chance to hear about the latest in lawn care from the experts and for landscapers to earn recertification credits,” she said. “The STEAC committee is hoping for a great turn out.”
Pre-registration is not required.
