Get Out: Run for Heroes, Food Festival and More

Springfield's run to help families of fallen local heroes is just one event in a jam-packed weekend of things to do.

Newtown Square Pennsylvania Railroad Day

Find out what's happening in Springfieldfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Where: Drexel Lodge Park, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: The day starts with a flag raising ceremony, there will be a celebrity and distinguished guest, miniature train rides, tours through 1895 PRR Newtown Freight Station Cars and more.  
  • Cost: $5 advance, $6 day of.  Children under 12 free.

Adventures of The Three Little Piggies

  • When: Saturday, Oct 6 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Media Theatre, 104 E State Street, Media
  • Why Go: Bring the kids out every Saturday in October to enjoy a new twist on an old tale.  For more information, please read this article.
  • Cost: $12 adult, $10 child

4th Annual Paoli Blues Fest

  • When: Saturday, Oct 6 at 12 noon-6 p.m..
  • Where: In and around Paoli Village Shoppes, Lancaster Ave.
  • Why Go: The biggest blues festival in suburban Philadelphia features great rock and blues bands, a kids stage and activities area and local vendors. Patch is proud to be a sponsor of the Paoli Blues Fest. Come out and meet Springfield Patch editor Bob Byrne and bring the kids for face painting and coloring in the Patch booth.
  • Cost: Free

12th Annual Run for Heroes

  • When: Sunday, October 7, 9 a.m.
  • Where: 50 Powell Road, Springfield
  • Why Go: Looking for a run on Sunday morning?  Help support the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, for the children of Police, Firefighters and EMS Reponders that have died in the line of duty. This is a fun run with prizes for the top racers.
  • Cost: $25

Media's 32nd Annual Food Festival and Craft Fair

  • When: Sunday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Media Borough
  • Why Go: State Street is being shut down to make room for the arts.  Come enjoy food from local restaurants, live music and check out local artists and crafters tables who will line the street. 
  • Cost: Free
