Man Charged In Deadly Delco Road Rage Shooting

Saddiq Washington, of Darby, is accused of shooting and killing King Hua, 54, in an apparent road rage incident in Springfield Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Murder and related charges have been filed against a 22-year-old man in connection with the deadly road rage shooting that occurred in Delaware County this week.

Saddiq Washington, 22, of Darby, is charged with first- and third-degree murder, homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person.

Washington is accused of shooting and killed 54-year-old King Hua in Springfield Township.

According to authorities, the shooting was part of a road rage incident on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at about 8:43 a.m. on South State Road in the area of Buttonwood Drive and Meetinghouse Lane in Springfield.

According to police, officers were call to the area for a report of a crash and a shooting.

Hua, died after being shot in the incident.

Police said Hua and his wife were driving south on State Road when another vehicle passed them.

The passing vehicle stopped, and a passenger, later identified as Washington, got partially out of the vehicle and fired shots at Hua's vehicle, authorities said.

Police said the road rage incident began because Washington and his mother, who was driving the vehicle, thought Hua was driving too slowly.

Hua was struck and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Authorities were able to identify Washington as a suspect in less than 48 hours.

Washington did have a license to carry his firearm, authorities said.

Washington was denied bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 14.
