Multiple Purse Thefts Reported in Springfield
Credit cards and electronic devices in the handbags also were stolen.

Springfield Police said that multiple purse thefts have been reported.
- A Lewes, Del., resident reported Nov. 27 that she accidentally left her purse in the Asian Bistro in the Springfield Mall. When she returned to retrieve it, the purse was gone. It contained various forms of identification, her checkbook and credit cards. The victim was able to cancel the credit cards before they could be used.
- A Drexel Hill resident reported Nov. 29 that she arrived on a Septa bus at the Springfield Mall. She exited the bus and realized that she had left her handbag on the bus. She was able to stop the bus before it exited the parking lot and entered the bus but discovered that the handbag was gone. The handbag contained various forms of identification, a wallet and change purse, a small amount of cash, prescription medication, a Kindle, and credit cards. The victim was able to cancel the credit cards before they could be used.
- A Swarthmore resident reported Nov. 29 that sometime earlier in the day someone stole her driver’s license and credit cards from her purse while she was shopping at the Springfield Mall. The victim did not realize that the theft had taken place until she received a phone call from her credit-card company questioning several large purchases at local stores.
