Mrs. Marie A. (nee Steiner) Bartolomei, 89, died on April 9, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Marie A. (nee Steiner) Bartolomei, 89, died on April 9, 2012 at her home in Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Bartolomei was a 1940 graduate of St. Leonard’s Academy. After her marriage, she resided in Southwest Philadelphia and Upper Darby before moving to Springfield where she lived for the past 51 years.
She was a comptometer operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad as well as a medical records clerk at the Haverford State Hospital. She was also a library assistant at the Springfield Children's Library. Mrs. Bartolomei was a member of .

Her kitchen was a natural gathering spot for her children's friends, neighbors and family. She was especially known for her pizzelles and vegetable soup. During WWII she served as a USO volunteer. She and her husband “Bart” loved dancing to the Big Bands in the 1940s. She was an avid Phillies and 76ers fan, rarely missing a televised game. She enjoyed reading, the beach at Wildwood Crest and Italian restaurants. She never had a bad thing to say about anything or anyone. She was a ray of sunshine in a world that can be so dark.
She is survived by a daughter, Annette Bartolomei-Lee (Alan) of Media, PA, six sons, John P. (Penny) Bartolomei of Lebanon, PA, William J. (Lois) Bartolomei of Wallingford, PA, Michael J. Bartolomei of Delaware County, Robert J. Bartolomei of Springfield, PA, James C. Bartolomei of Birdsboro, PA, Joseph (Andrea) Bartolomei of Glen Mills, PA. She is also survived by a brother, Jim Steiner, a sister, Rosemary Manzo, and five grandchildren, Alex, Sarah, Emma, Sebastian, and Matthew. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John “Bart” Bartolomei in 2000.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, April 14, 2012 after 9 a.m. at , 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064 until the time of her funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in .
