ONE EVENING ONLY: Book release party and Mae Pang reunion show on Saturday, May 14

This event is a kind of a big deal. After a 10-year hiatus, Philly chick rock trio Mae Pang will reunite to celebrate the release of its bassist’s new book, “Come As You Are” (PS Books) on Saturday, May 14.

Mae Pang bassist and fiction author Christine Weiser is launching the publication of her sequel to the critically acclaimed debut novel “Broad Street” with a special one-night only concert at Bourbon and Branch in Philadelphia. Admission is free for those 21 years or older.

“Come As You Are” is a deftly written novel about balancing work, family, and a chick rock trio. Ten years earlier, these thirty-something women were best friends who played in the late ‘90s Philadelphia girl group, Broad Street. Time and circumstances drove them apart, but when they get an invitation to play an esteemed national tour, they put aside their differences to reform their old band.

Christine Weiser is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the literary magazine Philadelphia Stories and the Editor for Tech & Learning magazine. She also plays bass for the recently reunited band, Suffacox, and culled a few inspirations for her novels from her time with the girl band, Mae Pang. Read more at christineweiser.com.

Doors open at 4 p.m. Sara Sherr Karaoke begins at 5 p.m., Weiser reads from “Come As You Are” at 5:45 p.m. and Mae Pang performs at 6 p.m.
