PA Health Officials Giving Out Free Naloxone Kits In Delco

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — In an ongoing effort to combat opioid overdoses, the Pennsylvania Department of Health is launching a statewide initiative to distribute the overdose-reversal medication naloxone.

Naloxone kits will be distributed for free at 95 locations, including two locations in Delaware County, as part of "Get Help Now Week."

Free kits will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Upper Darby Township Building, 100 Garrett Road, 1st Floor, in Upper Darby

They will also be avaialble from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Delaware County SHC, 151 W. 5th St., Suite 1, in Chester.

Those who do get a kit are asked to take a selfie, post it on Facebook or Twitter and share why you carry naloxone. State officials are encouraging post to include #WhyICarryNaloxone.

To receive a certificate of completion for naloxone training, you must watch the video on TRAIN PA. You will not receive a certificate for watching on this page or on YouTube.

In Pennsylvania, the standing order signed by Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine allows anyone to get naloxone without a prescription. Completing the training on TRAIN PA and printing a certificate of completion will protect you legally as a Good Samaritan trying to help someone in need.
