PD Blotter: Graffiti at Scenic Hills, Dealership Burgled

Vehicle Lock Damaged
A resident from the 300 block of Memorial Park Drive reported June 18 at 8 a.m. that sometime overnight someone damaged the lock to the driver’s side door while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the home.

Car Dealership Burgled
reported at 8:06 a.m. on June 18 that sometime during the night someone forcibly entered the business through one of the bay doors. Patrolman Joseph Prendergast responded and investigation showed that the burglars punched out a lower glass panel on a bay door to the detail shop. It does not appear as if anything was taken at the time of the report. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Wallet Stolen at Starbucks
A Prospect Park resident reported that sometime between 6:15 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. on June 18 someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was at the in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike. The wallet contained various forms of identification, cash and credit cards. The investigation showed that someone had used the credit cards at local store before the victim could cancel them. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley.
Diaper Bag, GPS Stolen
A resident from the 100 block of Wood Road reported June 19 at 8:32 a.m. that sometime overnight someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a diaper bag with various items and a Garmin GPS Unit while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the home.
Items Stolen from Unlocked Vehicle
A resident from the 200 block of Valleyview Road reported June 19 at 9:07 a.m. that sometime during the night someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a portable DVD player, an Insignia GPS unit and various video and vehicle charging units while the vehicle was parked on the street in front of the home.
Shades, iPod Taken from Unsecured Vehicle
A resident from the 200 block of Midland Road reported June 19 at 11:15 a.m. that sometime during the night someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole an Apple iPod and a pair of sunglasses while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the home.
Attempted Burglary
A resident from the 900 block of Sara Drive reported June 21 at 6:31 a.m. that sometime during the night someone attempted to forcibly enter his home. Patrolman Nicholas Paytas responded and the investigation showed that the burglar attempted to forcibly enter his home through an attached indoor poolroom on the rear of the home. The window blinds were found on the floor and the top of the window was ajar. It does not appear as if entry was made to the home. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.
Graffiti at Scenic Hills Elementary
Springfield police received a report of graffiti painted on the side of the building on June 21 at 8:32 p.m. Patrolman Michael Kingsbury arrived to find white spray-painted graffiti on the side of the building. The incident is under investigation by Detective Daniel McNeely.
Alleged Phone Theft Leads to Narcotics Charges
The store in the reported on June 22 at 7:24 p.m. that there was a man in the store who was allegedly seen stealing an employee’s cellular phone. Patrolman Scott Francis responded and investigation showed that as the employee was completing a transaction for a customer, she placed her phone on the counter and the customer was seen leaving the store with the phone. The man then re-entered the store. He was indentified by the employee and taken into custody. When he was searched, he possessed the employee’s phone, a large amount of cash and a bottle of suspected narcotics. He was taken to the police station and charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and violations of the Health and Safety Act. The incident is under investigation by Detective Robert Nutley.
Stereo Unit Lifted from Unlocked Vehicle
A Springfield resident reported June 23 at 8:55 a.m. that sometime overnight someone stole the factory stereo head unit from his vehicle and also attempted to steal one of the rims on his vehicle while it was parked in the lot at in the 300 block of Baltimore Pike while it was in for service. The driver’s door had been left unlocked. The item is valued in excess of $2,000.
Woman Steals Sneakers
reported June 24 at 3:35 p.m. that a female left the store without paying for a pair of Nike women’s sneakers. The thief was seen entering a vehicle fleeing onto Baltimore Pike. The area was checked but the woman and vehicle were gone. The sneakers are valued at $75.
Bike Taken from Home
A resident from the 200 block of Wayne Avenue reported June 24 at 7:05 p.m. that sometime during the night someone stole his black and blue boy’s Mongoose bike from the rear yard of the home. The bike is valued more than $300.
Lamp Post Vandalized
A resident from the 100 block of Snyder Lane reported June 24 that sometime between 10:50 p.m. and 11 p.m. someone damaged the lamppost on the front lawn of the home.
