Police Blotter: Unattended Infant, Stolen Chicken, Tires Slashed

Identity Theft, Forgery

Springfield police received a report April 16 at 3:27 p.m. of a male in the randomly purchasing items using a credit card in the name of another person. The actor was using false identification during the purchasing in various stores. Sgt. Raymond Purcell responded and located Garrett Graham, 34, of Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, exiting the . He was carrying numerous bags of merchandise. He was interviewed and provided the officer with fraudulent identifications. He was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with access device fraud, identity theft, forgery, receiving stolen property, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Attempted Home Invasion

A resident from the 700 block of Hillborn Avenue reported April 16 that sometime between 9 a.m. and 6:43 p.m. someone attempted to forcibly enter her home through the front door. There were pry marks found on the wooden doorframe and wooden doorjamb. No entry had been gained to the home. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.

Women Runs Off in Stolen Sneakers

The in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported April 17 at 12:49 p.m. that a black male and black female just fled the store without paying for a pair of women’s Nike sneakers. The female was observed wearing the sneakers as she ran out the front of the store. They entered a grey colored vehicle and fled onto Baltimore Pike traveling towards the Blue Route. The area was checked but the actors were gone. The sneakers are valued more than $60.

Infant Left Unattended, DUI Charge

Springfield police received a report of an infant that was left unattended in a vehicle in the parking lot in front of in the 1000 block of Baltimore Pike on April 17 at 3:06 p.m. Patrolman Nicholas Paytas responded and observed the vehicle leaving the parking lot onto Baltimore Pike. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Julius Muhumuza, 46, of King Avenue in Folcroft, was alleged to be intoxicated. He was taken to , had blood drawn, and then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. The infant in the vehicle was unharmed and was turned over to a passenger in the vehicle. The actor was later released to a relative. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Tires Slashed, Including Spare

A Drexel Hill resident reported April 17 at 3:26 p.m. that sometime over the last few weeks someone slashed five tires, including the spare tire, on his Coachman trailer that was parked in the lot in the 1200 block of E. Woodland Avenue.

Catalytic Convertors Stolen

The car dealership in the 800 block of Baltimore Pike reported April 18 at 9:58 a.m. that sometime during the night, someone stole 15 catalytic convertors from various vehicles that were parked in the dealership lot.

Display Dresses Stolen

The in the Springfield Mall reported April 18 that sometime between 7:45 p.m. and 8:36 p.m. someone stole 15 women’s dresses from a display in the front of the store.

Chicken Fingers and Change

The on Baltimore Pike reported April 19 at 7:10 p.m. that sometime around 4:40 p.m. a white male in his 50s was observed with bags of chicken fingers and was leaving the store without paying for them. The male was also observed removing cash from a register change slot after the prior customer forgot to remove it. The total loss is valued at $120. The area was checked but he was gone.

DUI Charges

Springfield police received a report of a reckless driver in the 300 block of E. Springfield Road on April 20 at 11:29 p.m. Patrolman David DiTrolio observed the vehicle swerving all over the road and was eventually able to stop the vehicle. The operator, Kenneth Lucas, 47, of the 200 block of N. Simpson Street in Philadelphia, was found to be intoxicated. He was taken to Springfield Hospital, had blood drawn, and was then transported to the police station. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and related motor vehicle violations. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy. Lucas was later released to a relative.

Just Don’t Do It: Nikes Stolen

The Famous Footwear in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike reported April 21 at 6:57 p.m. that a black female just fled the store without paying for a pair of Nike sneakers. The area was checked but the actor was gone. The sneakers are valued at $75.

Man Charged with Retail Theft

’s security reported April 21 at 8:12 p.m. that they had a male in custody for retail theft at the store. Patrolman Sean Clifton responded and took Jesse Nepywoda, 25, of the 3000 block of Richmond Street in Philadelphia, into custody and transported him to the police station. The investigation showed that he was in possession of two stolen prescriptions and a quantity of narcotics. Nepywoda was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $300 worth of merchandise from the store, identity theft and violations of the Health and Safety Act. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Lamppost Damaged

A resident from the 1100 block of Providence Road reported April 21 at 8:51 p.m. that someone damaged the curbside lamppost in front of his home.
