Rifle Scare, Robbery, Vandalism, More: Springfield Crime Blotter
A 40-year-old man from Philadelphia was carrying a gun that turned out to be an airsoft rifle and was drunk, police said. See details here.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between May 8 and May 14.

May 8 at 8:45 a.m.
A resident of the 400 block of Briarhill Road reported large stacks of tables and chairs used for a block of party were stolen from the front of the property sometime around 6:45 a.m.
May 8 at 209 p.m.
A shopper at BJ’s Wholesale 1200 block of East Woodland Avenue reported her car window had been smashed while she was inside the store by an unknown female. A witness had observed the incident and said the actor left the lot in a vehicle.

May 8 at 3:53 p.m.
A 32-year-old female from Drexel Hill will be charged with Retail Theft after Target security, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, observed her steal over $380 worth of bedding and storage containers.
May 8 at 7:10 hrs.
A business on the 200 block of Ballymore Road had several acts of vandalism occur by juveniles loitering in the area, including doors being kicked and beer being poured through windows. Video surveillance is being reviewed to determine the identity of actors.
May 8 at 9:07 p.m.
Hanif Sutton, 24, of Chester, was taken into custody after an incident at Macy’s at the mall in which he stole numerous items of clothing and then threatened employees with a knife. Responding officers detained Sutton and located a box cutter in his possession. He was charged with Robbery and other offenses and held for arraignment.
May 11 at 10:33 a.m.
A resident of the 600 block of Yale Avenue reported he observed two male subjects loitering near his vehicle and confronted them. The two gathered a floor jack and then entered their vehicle and left the area. Responding officers stopped the two nearby. It appeared as if the two were going to attempt to steal a catalytic converter from a parked vehicle. Their vehicle was seized, and the investigation is continuing.
May 12 at 11:44 a.m.
A tenant at the Parkway Inn, 600 block of Baltimore Pike, reported that while outside of his room a male approached him and struck him in the head trying to steal his cell phone. The victim was able to fend off the attempt, and the male ran away. Det. McNeely is investigating.
May 13 at 4:12 p.m.
Officers received a report of a male subject carrying what appeared to be a rifle on the 200 block of Baltimore Pike. The male ran across the street and down Grove Avenue. He was then observed urinating on a bush near North Avenue and Bellevue Avenue. Officers confronted the male and disarmed him. The gun was found to be an airsoft gun, and the male was found to be intoxicated. He claimed to have tried to pawn the gun to a local shop. The 40-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.
May 13 at 7:35 p.m.
A male reported his bike stolen from Williams Park while he was playing basketball with friends. The next morning, the bike was recovered from a property on the unit block of South Brookside Road.
May 14 at 8:38 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block of Stidman Drive reported a rock had been thrown through a rear window of the apartment sometime over the weekend. The rock appeared to be from the SEPTA Trolley tracks.
